The Mill

Built
in
1888
by
the
Southern
Mill
and
Warehouse
Company,
it
was
one
of
five
such
facilities
they
built
along
the
new
railroad
lines
in
both
Ventura
and
Santa
Barbara
Counties.
Providing
a
general
commission
and
brokerage
business,
the
company
handled
locally
grown
lima
beans,
hay,
grains,
honey
and
dried
apricots
and
shipped
them
as
the
markets
demanded.
It
is
today
the
future
home
of
the
Ventura
County
Farm
Heritage
Museum,
expected
to
open
in
2008.
